SURAT: The development of Surat Railway Station in to an International Standard has been initiated by the Indian Railway Station Development Corporation (IRSDC) in association with Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) and Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC).

Surat, The city well equipped with diamond and clothing industries is now all set to get a modern railway station. The Surat railway station under the P.P.P (Public Private Partnership) model Rs. 2500 crore would be spent to revamp it into the new look. The plan of using cutting-edge technology to create new buildings has been presented to Railway ministry and PMO.
After seeing the project created by architect Sanjay Joshi, the railway ministry giving the green signal to the municipality asked to take the project forward. Once the project starts it will be completed within four years, costing from Rs. The preliminary block project cost will be of Rs. 2500 crore. The municipality's effort to portray Surat railway station project as a development has dragged the interest of the PMO.
